MARSHA J. MACBRIDE, ESQ.
Marsha MacBride joined Sciarrino & Shubert, PLLC in 2009 returning to private practice after nearly two decades of distinguished service at the Federal Communications Commission and National Association of Broadcasters. She has extensive policy and legislative experience and brings a wealth of knowledge and know-how to the firm.
Most recently, Ms. MacBride served as the executive vice president, legal & regulatory affairs at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). In this role, she served as lead counsel and regulatory lobbyist for the NAB. In addition, she built and managed the 11-person NAB legal team. The department’s responsibilities included developing top quality legal and policy strategies for the Association and providing counsel to the Association’s executives, government relations team and all other NAB departments, including conventions and human resources. The legal team regularly provided legal information to the member companies, drafted testimony for Congressional and federal hearings and prepared witnesses. Ms. MacBride was also responsible for overseeing the use of all outside counsel and managing the NAB Legal budget.
Prior to joining the NAB, Ms. MacBride served as the chief of staff in the Office of Chairman Michael K. Powell at the FCC. She was responsible for managing the agency and its staff of 1800, including managing the budget process, personnel, bureaus and administrative efforts. She also advised on policy issues across the wide range of industries regulated by the FCC. Ms. MacBride was also responsible for coordinating with other federal agencies, especially with respect to national security after 9/11.
Ms. MacBride’s FCC experience also includes acting as media advisor to then Commissioner Michael Powell, acting as executive Director of the Y2K Task Force overseeing the communications industry readiness for the year 2000 and acting as media advisor to Chairman James H. Quello.
Ms. MacBride, in 2000, was vice president at The Walt Disney Company, in their Washington, D.C. office. In this role she provided legal counsel on FCC compliance, copyright, DRM, antitrust and international issues.
She graduated with a JD from The George Washington University Law School and is a member of the DC and Pennsylvania state bars.
