Lee W. Shubert
Lee Shubert got his start in broadcasting more than 45 years ago as the
voice of Daniel Webster in a syndicated, weekly radio drama. Then, for
the better part of the next decade and a half, he worked at a cavalcade
of large and small market radio and television stations, principally in
the midwest.
Since 1974, Lee has practiced communications law with several law firms
in the Washington, DC area. In January 2008, he joined forces with
broadcast attorney and longtime friend, Dawn M. Sciarrino to form
Sciarrino & Shubert, PLLC. Lee’s practice has involved
representation of broadcast station licensees, webcasters,
telecommunications service providers, cable companies, independent music
promoters, equipment producers and retailers, and information and high
technology companies. He regularly designs rules for on-line and/or cellular
push technology sweepstakes and contests, including the statutory and
regulatory compliance for the 50 States and U.S. Territories.
He also provides supervisory and oversight services for secured lenders
regarding broadcast station borrowers. Lee has served as a court-appointed
receiver for broadcast stations, as well as Trustee and a Director for
Pinnacle Broadcasting Company, Inc. He also has served as President and
Trustee of Atmor Properties Inc., a broadcast station holding company
operated for the benefit of The CIT Group. Through trustee or receivership
holdings, he has served as the licensee of about two dozen broadcast
stations in nearly a dozen communities from coast to coast.
Lee also is the managing member of Ballston Aero Trust Services, L.C.,
which serves as the trusteeowner of a fleet of corporate and commercial
aircraft leased world-wide through The CIT Group (formerly Newcourt Capital
and AT&T Capital Corporation).
Lee received B.A and M.A. degrees from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio
(where he taught radio, TV and film courses for nearly seven years) and a
J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Newport,
Kentucky. He is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and is
admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He also
is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
